Drumming up funds for Sarasota Child Protection Services

Music Compound’s first Summer Fest raises nearly $1,000 for Child Protection Center. Planned as the debut for a series of events, this family-friendly fundraiser is part of Music Compound’s pledge to raise $10,000 for CPC.

Music Compound would like to thank sponsors, donors, musicians, friends and family, for donating time, services and dollars at Summer Fest, which was held on Sat., June 8. Based on day of donations, sponsorship and auction, Music Compound raised $950 for Child Protection Center, the goal of which is to break the cycle of abuse prevalent in so many families.

“I think this inaugural Summer Fest, which we hope will be the first of many, came off wonderfully,” says Jenny Alday Townsend, Music Compound owner. “Great music and food was enjoyed by the many wonderful people who attended. And, most importantly, we raised nearly $1,000 for Child Protection Center.”

The fundraiser was held Sat. June 8, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Music Compound’s downtown studio, adjacent to The Bazaar at Apricot and Lime, 801 Apricot Ave. Tickets were just a $5 per person donation to the cause. Donation included: Entrance, silent auction, wrist band for bounce house, beer samples, crafts and live music — all entertainment was provided by Music Compound students and instructors.

Attendees also had the opportunity to check out the new indie market: The Bazaar at Apricot and Lime, which features local artists and specialty items. Music Compound members and staff volunteered their time to produce this CPC fundraiser.

Special thanks to Kim and Judy at the Bazaar on Apricot and Lime for hosting the inaugural Summer Fest, and to the Music Compound musicians who donated their time and skills, including:
Trey Wanvig Band;
Los Rojos;
They Call Me Mr. Band;
The House Brand;
