Within 24 hours, Music Compound creates an online music school

Music Compound is excited to offer online lessons for current and future members.  The executive team transformed their business model within 24 hours to an online music school. In the past, Music Compound provided in person music lessons for all ages. Due to the virus, all services are now available online in the comfort of your home.  Many members have requested this service in the past but it was not an option due to the core mission of the company. The unique model allowed music lovers to collaborate in person with others and have a stage to showcase skills learned. “I am very excited to create a new business model overnight and enhance our services. I believe this opportunity will allow us to develop new revenue streams and extend our market share.” said, Jenny Townsend, owner of Music Compound.  Jenny is committed to keeping her twenty-five instructors working. She did have to let five part time employees go this past week. Part timers include administrative staff that worked the front desk greeting members (15 hours per week) and high school students working in the music lounge (2-3 hours a day).   Additional staff were hired  last year to train and prepare for the company’s expansion to Lakewood Ranch.  Plans to open the Lakewood ranch facility this summer have been postponed due to the virus.

Online lessons are personalized for each student.  Music Compound is still committed to the same mission,  offering holistic music education. Not only will members receive a weekly lesson they will also receive additional access to virtual workshops, jam sessions, and specialized training with key instructors.

Benefits of Online Music Lessons:

While we’re sure you love working with your instructor, we realize that sometimes time, distance, or other factors can make it inconvenient to come to the studio every week. That’s why we offer music lessons, with the same awesome instructors, online!

  • Learn your instrument at home where you practice!
  • Keep your regular lesson time or find a more convenient time when you’re home!
  • Record your lessons so you can playback specific items to work on

Bringing Music to Children First this Spring

Thanks to a $1,000 donation by Every Child Sarasota, the Music Compound will provide nearly 50 hours of music enrichment for preschoolers at Children’s First at Helene Payne Annex Helen R. Payne Center on 33rd Street.

“Music carries many benefits for the overall development of young children,” said Children First VP of Programs Kathleen Sullivan. “Language and memory, as well as social and emotional skills develop as children engage in musical experiences. Music can translate to pure joy for young children as they learn and grow.”

Music Compound’s Alicia Schiavone who specializes in early childhood education will expose the children to singing, instruments and movement. Music Compound will provide 3 hours of enrichment every Friday from February through May 2020.
