Musical Theatre Program

Pat Ross joins our Musical Theatre Department. She looks forward to creating opportunities for both performers and musicians.

The 2023-2024 Musical Theatre Program will feature a variety of performance opportunities for area youth. The goal is to have performers working in tandem with musicians. That’s right! No tracks. Our MC musicians will provide the music for all the performances.

Classes begin the first week of September.

This musical theatre is different and will rock your world.

This is a class dedicated to students interested in developing the skills necessary to become a “Triple Threat Performer”. A Singer/Dancer/Actor.

Musical Theatre is made up of the following:

· Music from a popular Broadway-style production.

· Solo songs, duets, choruses, and ensembles.

· Orchestra or band accompaniment.

· Spoken dialogue

· Dance sequences, stage spectacles (large production numbers)

What should students expect?

The class would introduce students to musical theatre through ~

Song/ score/ character analysis/ and performance.

Section of class dedicated to Dance Technique with Ms. Ross and part of the class will break down vocal performance with Mr. Sam.

The emphasis of the class will be on performance and the ability to act the song as well as performing the choreography involved.

All students will be a part of a finished production: either a Cabaret-style show or a full musical. These students will know how to sing a few songs, perform dance/choreography and present a believable character.

Registration fee: $30 (mandatory one-time fee for MC members)

Dress Code fee: TBD (will include black leggings, dance shoes, and leotard)

Monthly fee: $175 for weekly 90 minute rehearsal.
